Ready vs Prepared

Is there a difference between being ready and being prepared?

I think so.

I'm a Mental Toughness Coach and athletes often tell me, "I'm so ready!" "I feel ready!" "I'm ready!"

Yet the moment something bad happens, they are no longer ready.

I think ready is an emotion. And remember, emotions are unreliable because they come and go.

Feeling ready can soon be replaced by feeling nervous, unconfident, or upset.

How about prepared?

Prepared means you have done the work and earned the right to feel confident.

Prepared means you have a plan to handle the storms. And those storms are coming whether you like it or not.

Stop relying on unreliable emotions.

Start building your Mental Toughness so it becomes a skill you can count on.
